What is Long Term Care Insurance?

Long Term Care Insurance is insurance which can be purchased to pay for long term care costs. Most policies require that you have loss of two or three ADL’s (activities of daily living) such as loss of the ability to feed, bath, dress, toilet, medicate and transport one’s self from room to room.

This is initially determined by your personal physician and then recertified by a doctor chosen by the insurance company. Benefits are generally paid directly to you once a month and most policies will pay benefits for a set period of time such as one year, two years, three years, five years and some have unlimited benefits this is known as a life time policy.
